UPRISE ARTS WORKSHOPS
Interactive Painting with Children For many years Richard Heley has run workshops with children aged 5-16. He has worked internationally in schools, clubs, festivals, carnivals, galleries, and private homes. Children are given best quality artists oil pastels and invited to make drawings on hardboard. Richard then paints through the background. The combination of the dreaming power and drawing charm of children, combined with the design and paint skills of an artist has seen some exciting results. Sizes of paintings vary from 2ft square to 24ft x 6ft. Paintings are usually done on hardboard as this can be mounted on softwood frames and leaned against a wall or the boards can be joined to stand independently. Such workshops usually run for 4 to 7 hours. Some joyous and beautiful paintings have been produced. Uprise arts has many childrens paintings for sale. Live Performance Painting Richard Heley is gaining an international reputation for painting "live" as performance in night clubs, galleries, festivals and social or arts events. Live painting is a way of recording the ambience of an occasion through the medium of fine art painting. Often the audience wants to join in and children are almost impossible to keep out. Richard will set up hard boards (usually 6ft x 4ft sheets) participants are given oil pastels to draw with. Richard is resident live painter at Dutchpot, London's monthly songwriters night. | Poetry Uprise Arts runs poetry workshops. Seema Gill and Richard Heley are both experienced writers, international performance poets and workshop leaders. Poetry resulting from our workshops can be edited into books. Sessions can be filmed, then edited in our studio. We offer packages that can include leading the workshop, filming the workshop, compiling, editing and designing anthologies of poetry books. Uprise arts can also combine our poetry and live painting workshops. This combination has been very successful working with children. Uprise arts has poetry books for sale. Filmmaking Uprise Arts have been filming poetry festivals, arts events and social occasions for some years. Film is shot on a Canon XM1 camera in mini DV format. Editing is on Apple i-Movie or Final Cut Pro 3. Uprise Arts can film any event for you, then give you the raw footage or edit in our studio. Film can be delivered to you in miniDV, VHS or on DVD. Yoga Therapy You may be surprised to find Yoga Therapy as a skill or service we have on offer for you at Uprise Arts. Yoga is the ancient Indian art of healing for body, soul and mind. The emphasis is put on balancing and toning the mind with body. Seema Gill has a life long experience practicing Yoga as a therapy for 'toning' the soul with body. She has organised Yoga Therapy Workshops for people in distressed and unbalanced state of mind. Uprise Arts can offer Yoga Therapy workshops for groups or individuals.
